WalkUPs

WalkUPs (walkable urban places) represent 1% of the total surface of the cities but account for up to 50% of hotel, office, apartment and retail square footage. In suburbs designed for cars, the commercial leases located in pedestrian areas are commanding 74% more than the average.

Could pedestrians be more economically important than cars? If the pedestrian environment proves to be more profitable than automotive traffic, this could mean the end of urban sprawl.
